Not to be confused with the Military Van.

The Van is one of the many drivable Vehicles in Teardown. Its first appearance is in the Evertides Mall(as an escape vehicle). As a drivable vehicle, its first appearance is on the West Point Marina.

Design[]

The Van appears to be based on a fourth-generation Ford Transit. It also seems to have a diesel engine.

The van starts off with a plastic front bumper, in the center of which resides a long white stripe(this could be a license plate), between a set of tiny indicators. Above the white line is a big oval grill with a badge in the center, between a pair of large light units, housing multiple headlamps incased in glass. The front of the car is extremely flat, but turns dramatically to reach the giant windshield. Surrounding the windshield are large trapezoidal windows incased in black plastic, sitting a touch lower than the windshield, with small black mirrors. The vehicle is a large cargo van with two seats and a large grey interior. The side of the car has plenty of plastic on the bottom, with a small cut through it to reveal a body-colored line. The van has sliding doors, evidenced by the darker-tone line across the back. However, this is purely cosmetic and does not function. The car has medium-sized mesh wheels wrapped in high-profile tires.

The constant angle of the windshield continues onto the roof for a short period before stopping. As soon as it reaches the end, it falls down completely, joining with the rear doors(which, like the side doors, cannot be opened), which have a small brake light above them. Around the rear doors are a pair of tall light units, housing a reversing light between a brake light above it and a taillight below it, all covered with glass. The rear bumper is very similar to the front one, being plastic with a body-colored slit in the middle, and hard-to-see indicators near the edges. The Van has a single exhaust pipe: under the bumper and to the right. The Van is painted in multiple colors: Yellow with black accents, white with black accents, and a Löckelle Teardown Services livery.

Performance[]

The van is poor in terms of performance. Its acceleration is slow, its top speed is not very fast and its turning ability is very bad. The Van has an extreme understeer problem and even using the handbrake will not initiate a drift, due to the FWD drivetrain. It appears to be impossible to drift the vehicle. Its off-roading potential is the only reason the Van should be used in place of other vehicles if the escape route leads on and off the road. The car has decently large wheels and good ground clearance, but its wheelbase is a bit long. Durability is okay, as the van has a lot of glass pieces, but is on the stronger side of vehicles.

Trivia[]

  • A Van is used as the player's personal vehicle for a portion of the Campaign, taking on the role of an escape vehicle. It dons an LTS livery complete with a ladder strapped to its roof and a few subtle exterior differences.
    • At the beginning of Part 2 the player buys a new van. The previous one is given to Tracy who uses it for trips to the grocery store.
  • The Ice Cream Truck shares a similar front end to the regular Van. It is possible that it was built from one.
  • The dimensions of this vehicle are: 5.3m length and 2.1m width.
  • The Van is one of the few vehicles in-game which spawns multiple times on maps , others being the construction vehicles (On West Point Marina & Evertides Mall), the semi (On Evertides Mall), the Modern Station Wagon (On Evertides Mall) and the boats (On West Point Marina).
