The Tank is one of the many drivable Vehicles in Teardown. Its first appearance is in the Evertides Mall, during the Covert Chaos mission.
Design[]
The Tank is a complete copy of the Stridsvagn 103. It has a very low profile (especially for a tank) but is quite wide.
The entire body is wedge-shaped with a long barrel protruding from it's front, fixed in place. Due to this the gun cannot be aimed up and down. It can, however, be fired with LMB (standard input) and pointed left or right by turning the tank. It has a total of 3 rounds of ammo. Two tiny headlamps are set near the barrel. A small viewport is also situated near the barrel, right where it terminates. Large vents are visible around the barrel, used for cooling the diesel and turbine engines.
A pair of large tracks occupy the sides of the tank with flappy armor plates covering the wheels. Wires run above the armor, secured by four metal plates. These end once they reach the taillights. Exhaust vents are visible on the rear of the tank, alongside multiple hatches to allow access inside. The rear isn't particularly complex, having only a pair of taillights and reversing lights with much space between them. The Tank is painted in a desaturated green color with much visible wear, to the point that the top of the tank is mostly rust-colored.
Performance[]
The Tank is a beast like no other in Teardown, excelling in nearly every aspect. It handles great, can take one hell of a beating and can dish one out just as well. Here's a more in-depth look into it:
First of all, Handling. The Tank has outstanding performance in this category. For such a heavy vehicle it moves at an extreme pace; it accelerates very fast and has a high top speed. This is complemented by it's tracks, giving it high maneuverability and the ability to turn on a dime. However, it suffers from a mild oversteer issue at higher speeds and doesn't brake particularly well.
Handling is an important part of driving the Tank, but not the most important feature of the whole package. How it handles obstacles is also an important factor. So let's get into:
Durability. So yeah, it is a tank. What did you expect? Crashed into a building? Doesn't matter. The Tank doesn't care. Combined with the durability and speed it's easily turned into a strikingly-effective battering ram; Whatever it can smash through, it does. Whatever it can't smash through, it rolls over it. The aforementioned tracks give it excellent ground clearance aswell, enabling the driver to roll over debris with relative ease. Try to avoid steep inclines though, as it tends to get stuck on those. However, it is vulnerable to explosions, so avoid firing at short ranges, and be careful with explosives.
Even if it can tear a plenty-big wound in most obstacles with just speed and power, for some occasions you need a little more. One word comes to mind in such a scenario:
Firepower. As the usual with most tanks, this one has a cannon. A big one as well. You'd be suprised with how much it can do with just 3 rounds; the cannon is powerful enough to punch a giant hole in just about anything. It can fire quite fast as well, although the fixed gun restricts it's usability by a lot. Turn the tank toward anything you want to remove from this plane of existence, press LMB and watch the shell do all the work. Forget about aiming up or down.
Overall, the Tank is a great vehicle for destroying basically anything. It's fast, brutally efficient and a force to be reckoned with. Few other vehicles can cause as much carnage as this one.
Locations[]
- Covert Chaos - Three can be found at the military parade in front of the food court.
- Droid Dismount - Wrapped inside a gigantic gift box in the warehouse intended as Amanatides' gift to the player. Possesses 12 rounds of ammo instead of the usual 3.
- Löckelle Teardown Services - At the end of the Campaign, one can be found alongside a Troop Transporter and a Monster Truck inside of the closed-off train tunnel.
