The Semis (AKA Semi Trucks) are some of the many Vehicles in Teardown. They are split into different versions, yet all of them pull similar trailers.

Design[]

Green Truck[]

The Green Semi is based on a Scania truck, such as the Scania R series and S series. Its interior has a hump on the middle, similar to the Scania R Series. It looks similar to the Single-unit truck. Presumably, they are made by the same company.

Starting from the front, a wide black bumper can be seen with headlights above it. A large grey grille stretches from them up to the front windshield, accompanied by small ladders on it's sides. Large black mirrors surround it, joined by stripes of plastic trim above. Large panel lines are visible all throughout the vehicle, indicating of a sleeper cabin.

Much like the one on the Red Semi, the roof of this sleeper cab rises as well, eventually to the height level of the trailer. The grey coloration coming from the bumper continues down the side of the vehicle, staining the fuel tanks and rear fenders. Exhaust fumes come from under the fuel tanks, on both sides. A single pair of dually wheels are covered by grey fenders and joined by a set of taillights, brake lights and reversing lights. The Green Semi is painted in a teal color with grey and black accents. Its total length is 14 meters. Oddly enough, its trailer has only 2 axles instead of 3 which is common for European trailers.

Red Truck[]

As seen at Frustrum sandbox.

The Red Semi does not appear to be based on any specific model of truck, but looks to be based off of older American big rigs, such as the Peterbilts.

Starting from the front, a large amount of chrome details can be seen. The wide bumper is chrome, the headlights are chrome, and the grille is chrome. The headlights are tucked inside of extruded fenders, terminating at the steps. Diesel particulate filters perch above small indicators connected to a dark-tone plate, with black mirrors attached to plastic trim. A large window allows visibility to the driver, complete with fog lights on the roof.

Tall smokestacks fill the space between the cab and the sleeper. Continuing from the roof, the sleeper ramps upward rapidly and eventually cuts off. Small window-like cutouts occupy the sides, complimented by large fuel tanks and indicators down below. Black fenders cover dually rear wheels with slices of dark green to balance it out. A set of small taillights, brake lights and reversing lights are housed above large mud flaps. The Red Semi is painted in a red color with black & chrome accents. Oddly enough, its trailer has 3 axles instead of 2, which is common for American trailers.

A Nobel Explosive[]

The Nobel Explosive is based off of the Red Semi. It can only be found on Mayhem challenge maps. What differentiates it from the regular Red Semi is a special paint job with a different front grille.

Performance[]

All of the Semi Truck variants perform roughly the same, with minor performance alterations based on trailer, wheelbase, etc. The performance features shared throughout all of them are: slow acceleration, lower top speed, decently high durability, RWD and sliding. The Semis tend to slide without their trailers, but the trailers can't be removed from A Nobel Explosive and the Propane Truck so they do not have this problem.

Green Semi[]

The Green Semi is the least capable of the bunch. For starters, it only has 4 wheels as opposed to the Red Semi's 6 wheels. It is also less durable, having more of its mass shifted toward the front meaning that it takes more damage during impacts. It has low ground clearance, which can make it to easily get stuck. This does not mix well with the slow acceleration.

Red Semi and A Nobel Explosive[]

The Red Semi is slightly more robust than the Green Semi. It has 6 wheels with the rear 4 being driven. It has a better distribution of mass, being that most of it is contained in the sleeper cab. Due to less surface area on the front the vehicle takes less damage from collisions. It still has low ground clearance but due to more wheels being driven, it has a better chance of escaping holes. The Nobel Explosive handles the same as the stock Red Semi.

Trivia[]

  • Real life European trailers mostly have three axles, while American trailers mostly have two. In the game however, they seem to be switched as the Green Semi has only two trailer axles while the Red Semi has three.
  • The American Semi does not have a reverse beeper, unlike the European Semi.
  • The European Semi's interior has a hump on the middle, which makes it more similar to the Scania R Series.
