Not to be confused with the Small Helicopter
The Security Chopper is a form of security in some Teardown missions. In most missions(and the fetch challenge) where it is not the main threat, it appears at 15 seconds near the end and moves closer to the escape vehicle until the timer runs out. It looks somewhat like a Bell-412 or UH-1 Iroquois in-game, armed with an autocannon, missiles and a spotlight. It is the only Part 1 NPC.
Appearance[]
Alarm Missions & Fetch Challenge[]
The Security Chopper is present on any map with an alarm tied to the objectives, and it begins to fly onto the map when the 60-second timer goes past 15 seconds. It will fly toward the escape vehicle no matter where the player is currently located and the game will end if the Chopper reaches the vehicle. During the ending cutscene, it constantly points towards the escape vehicle. It does not use its weapons in these missions.
Chopper Missions[]
The Helicopter arrives shortly after one of the objectives has been interacted with (moving it, hacking it etc.) and starts chasing the player. If the player is in the spotlight of the helicopter, it will start firing its autocannon. If the player hides from the chopper in a building or otherwise, there is a chance of the chopper firing its missiles. These missiles make a hole that is similar to the bombs and have a chance to cause fire. A short beeping noise plays before the chopper fires any of its weapons.
The Security Chopper always knows the general location of the player, hovering ominously near the area the player is in. However, it only attacks when it sees the player. The chopper reacts to loud noises caused by the player(by explosions or gunshot), and will turn to face the direction the noise came from if it heard one(indicated by a distinct noise). This can be used to the players' advantage, as causing a racket in an area away from the player(such as causing an explosion) will keep the chopper occupied with checking the noise leaving ample time for the player to move.
This type of Security chopper is only in the missions An assortment of dishes (Arriving at the scene once a single objective has been hacked) and in Havoc in Paradise (Arrives as soon as the mission starts)
The chase[]
Unlike the mission helicopters, this helicopter always knows your location and fires, but does not fire rockets, and is less accurate.
Hunted Mode[]
The Helicopter arrives on the scene immediately after the game starts. Acquiring chests does not affect it, and it behaves like it does in Chopper Missions. However, after 15 chests have been collected, a second chopper arrives at the scene.
Trivia[]
- The security chopper has a physical structure but cannot be damaged or collided with. It can be, however, cut with a blowtorch which doesn't seem to be supposed to happen. It's main body, however, will continue to function as normal (this mistake seems to have been fixed).
