The SUV is one of the many Vehicles in Teardown. Its first appearance is on the West Point Marina.
Design[]
The SUV seems to be based on a first-generation BMW X5, with the signature kidney grilles on the front, surrounded by a set of angular light units. These light units house aggressive-looking headlamps, complimented by indicators on the edges. Under the light units is the large front bumper, painted in grey, with what seems to be vents on the sides, and a narrow license plate in the middle. The hood ramps up to connect with the large windshield which protrudes a touch from the A-pillar, in between a set of plastic mirrors. These plastic mirrors are attached to plastic window frames, the grey color of which extends to the D-pillar. These frames house large windows. The vehicle is a SUV with 5 doors. It has quite a wide stance, which is amplified by the extended fenders, that are connected with a dark skirt on the bottom of the car. The front fenders have small indicators on them, and within the fenders are housed many-spoked wheels, wrapped in low-profile tires.
The rear fenders rise heavily, reaching the middle of the D-pillar. The grey color from the rear bumper creeps up the bottom of the fenders, below small indicators that reside on the backs of the fenders. These indicators are right next to the rear light units, which house a small taillight, a larger brake light above it, and a small reversing light below the brake light, all covered with red glass. In between these light units is a narrow license plate, which sits inside of a cutout in the hatch. Above the plate is a narrow rear window, lined with plastic at the very top, in the center of which is a wide brake light. Below all of this is the large rear bumper, with small indicators on the sides of it. There are small pieces of glass on the top of the bumper, the purpose of which is unknown. The SUV has a single exhaust pipe, right below the left indicator on the rear bumper. The SUV is painted in a light blue color, with grey accents.
Performance[]
The SUV's performance is decent. It is a very fast car on the road but its acceleration is somewhat sluggish. Its turning ability is mediocre as it has an AWD powertrain, but it slides quite a lot. Because of this, the handbrake is not required to initiate a drift. Even though this car is called an SUV, it does not off-road well, because of its low ground clearance and fairly long wheelbase. This, combined with its slow acceleration, makes the SUV accelerate slowly when off the road. Its durability is also quite lacking.
Trivia[]
- On the West Point Marina and on the Löckelle Teardown Services map, there is a crushed SUV body. It is missing all of its glass, its roof is caved in, it is rusting and it is missing wheels.
- The SUV is more like of a crossover SUV, due to its reduced off roading capability.
- Furthermore, the BMW X5 (the vehicle it is most likely based on) is a crossover SUV. A crossover SUV is an SUV-like vehicle based on a car platform instead of a truck platform. This results in better comfort and fuel economy, but will result in reduced off-roading and towing capabilities, which explains why the SUV is not good at off-roading.
