The Outdoor 4x4, nicknamed the Defender, is one of the many drivable Vehicles in Teardown. Its first appearance is on the West Point Marina.
Design[]
The Outdoor 4x4 is a complete copy of the Land Rover Defender, even down to the color. The front end has a small chrome bumper below a set of headlight lined with black trim, and a small mesh grille between the headlights with a badge on the very top. There are 2 chrome mirrors behind the headlights, in front of the large windshield. The car is an SUV, with 5 doors and a lot of windows. On the roof is a large chrome rack, although it is purely cosmetic, and cannot be used to carry items. The fender arches are grey, and house large rims wrapped in high-profile tires.
On the back of the car is a large door, with a spare tire attached to it, sitting between a set of lights. These light sets are low to the ground and close to the rear step bumper, having small taillights, a larger brake light below it and a reversing light to the side of the brake light, closer to the wheels. The Defender has one exhaust pipe, under the step bumper and to the left. It is painted in a light blue color with a cream colored roof.
Performance[]
The Outdoor 4x4 has poor performance. It is heavily lacking in speed and acceleration is slow. The handbrake has to be used to take sharp turns as the 4WD powertrain makes drifting more difficult and gives heavy understeer at higher speeds. However, the off-roading capability of this vehicle is what makes it special. It has very high ground clearance, a short wheelbase and large tires, all of which allow it to scale steep inclines and go over rough terrain with ease. This is also helped by the fact that the front bumper does not stick out much from the body of the car, providing a larger approach and departure angle and finally all of this is bolstered by its good durability.
