The Mayhem challenge is the first challenge unlocked. Their main premise is about destroying as much as possible within 60 seconds. It is unlocked by beating The Lee Computers.
Gameplay[]
The challenge can be played on any unlocked map, and the main goal is to destroy as many voxels as possible(and therefore get the highest possible score) before a 60-second timer counts down to 0. Special challenge-specific resources are present to assist the player with reaching this goal, and explosive propane tanks are scattered around the environments. The challenge does not begin immediately, however. 1000 voxels must be destroyed before the timer starts, letting the player prepare before going on their destructive rampage. A score system is in place, using stars to measure the amount of voxels destroyed. A single star amounts to 200,000 voxels. The maximum star score is 5 stars, which amounts to a total of 1,000,000 voxels destroyed. While this may seem like a tough objective, the resources mentioned above and below are a great help.
Thresholds[]
- 1000 voxels - Countdown starts
- 200,000 voxels - 1 star
- 400,000 voxels - 2 stars
- 600,000 voxels - 3 stars
- 800,000 voxels - 4 stars
- 1,000,000 voxels - 5 stars
Resources[]
There are destructive resources present in the challenge to help the player.
Explosives[]
In the "A Nobel Explosive" trucks there is a payload of 6 small propane canisters and 6 total remote bombs, split between 3 color coded cases. A layer of styrofoam protects the explosives, and it can slightly add to the voxel count.
A propane truck is put on every Mayhem challenge map, and it is extremely explosive. It is usually decently far away from the player's spawn.
There are extra explosives dotted around the map. For example, on Villa Gordon there are propane tanks strapped to the walls of some of the buildings.
The Remote Bombs[]
These explosives differ from any others found in Teardown via the fact that they can be remotely detonated from a safe distance, as opposed to backing away and shooting them. There are a total of 3 bomb cases colored blue, green and red.
Inside of the boxes are two color-coded remote-controlled bombs and a remote in between them. These are covered with the boxes' latch and an extra layer of styrofoam under it. The remote and bombs inside of the box can be moved around freely. Each remote is colored according to which bombs it detonates.
The remotes seem to have an infinite range, and both bombs are detonated as their remote is activated. They cannot stick to surfaces. These bombs are extremely powerful and have a radius similar to that of a large propane tank, so make sure to stand back.
Vehicles[]
The Nobel Explosive and Propane trucks are useful vehicles on the maps. However, other vehicles are there as well, such as forklifts near the spawn area.
Physical[]
Large, medium and small propane tanks are scattered around the level, along with other objects such as shipping containers, this is especially noticeable at Lee Chemicals.
Notes[]
- In the Quilez Security challenge, snow removed by walking, vehices and the Leaf Blower do not contribute to the voxel count, while snow destroyed by other means do.
