The Gauss-Seidel B50 is one of the many drivable Vehicles in Teardown. It's first appearance is on the West Point Marina.
Design[]
The Gauss-Seidel B50 is heavily based upon the second-generation Chevrolet Impala. The flat front of the car houses a small mesh grille in between a pair of dual lights(only the outermost ones actually function) above a chrome piece, which seemingly holds up the small front bumper. The front of the car is quite low compared to the rest of the body, giving the car a large hood, which has two small chrome intakes on it. Continuing from the front, two chrome stripes run down the bonnet and connect with the narrow windshield. The car appears to have two pairs of A-pillars, the front ones holding a pair of chrome mirrors. Starting at the front, two large chrome stripes run down the side of the car, terminating after the rear wheel covers. The wheels of the car are chrome, wrapped in low-profile tires. It has a weak vinyl roof covering the seats.
The rear of the car starts narrowing, and has two large fins protruding from the C-pillar. From the center of the rear windshield, the fins arch inward, progressively getting narrower the closer the trunk gets to the rear. A chrome line sits inside of the arch, eventually reaching the rear of the car and extending onto the back of the fins, giving them the look of an aggressive monobrow, due to the downward arch in the middle. The taillights are housed right below the "monobrow", and have the appearance of narrow eyes, due to having the arrangement of a red line with a white reversing light in the middle, making it look like a pupil. This makes the rear of the car look even more aggressive. All of this is above a chrome rear bumper, under which are dual exhausts that toss exhaust smoke from under the taillights. Strangely, no indicators are present on the vehicle. The car is painted in a marine blue color with a generous amount of metallic trim, topped off with a white fabric roof, which is flammable.
Performance[]
The Gauss-Seidel B50 is a decently performing car. It has a high top speed, acceleration is fast but its turning ability isn't very good. It has a mild understeer issue at high speed and drifting to counter it is not a good idea, as the car has a tendency to spin out, because of the RWD drivetrain. It is not a good vehicle in off-roading, as it has low ground clearance especially on the rear and its wheelbase is quite long. Durability is poor as the car has many weak parts such as the vinyl roof, which can be destroyed with the Sledge. It is also quite rare and only appears in a few missions.
Trivia[]
- In the game files, the B50 is referred to as the "Calypso".
- The B50 is named after the "Gauss-Seidel" method, a method for solving linear algebra commonly used in computer simulation.
- The manufacturer "Gauss-Seidel" hosts a cup, as a prize hidden in Villa Gordon's secret room reads that Gordon Woo's father, William Woo, won it in 1952.
- In that same room, an engine block can be found which reads "Gauss-Seidel 1600cc". This might be B50's engine.
