The Excavator is one of the many Vehicles in Teardown. Its first appearance is on Villa Gordon.
Design[]
The Excavator does not seem to be based on any particular model of excavator.
The Excavator starts off with 10 heavy metal wheels, possibly imitating the caterpillar treads of real-life excavators, held together with track adjusters. These "tracks" attach to the car body underneath the main body and so do the large fenders. No real-life excavator has these fenders.
The main body of the excavator is a huge metal box that houses all of the vital components of the vehicle. On the front of it and to the right is the black cab, with a large amount of windows and a small rack-like roof where a small lamp sits. To the left of the cab is the arm of the excavator, beginning with the boom, continuing with the stick and ending with the bucket. Small lamps on the boom illuminate the letters "WCC"(Wolfe Construction Company). This entire assembly can be moved up and down by using LMB and RMB(default input).
Jumping back down to the main body of the excavator and going behind the boom is where the engine bay and counterweights are. The yellow color of the counterweights is offset with grey engine components and black stripes. On the rear of the vehicle Is an extruded plate with a black box symbol on it, from the sides of which spawn black and red stripes, the red ones continuing down the side of the excavator. Under the red stripes are tiny taillights. The Excavator has one vertical exhaust pipe on top of the engine bay. The Excavator, like other construction vehicles, is painted in a bright yellow with grey and black accents.
Performance[]
The Excavator, being a construction vehicle, is very good at tearing through buildings. It has very high durability especially in its arm, which can be used to tear holes in buildings with ease. When tearing through buildings, it is recommended to use the bucket instead of the stick to destroy walls as the bucket has higher durability. However, even though the vehicle has exceptional durability, it is not advised to charge through walls using the Excavator's body as a battering ram. This hurts the machine a lot more than using the bucket and having the arm fully extended while doing this can get the vehicle stuck.
While the Excavator is well optimized to destroy buildings, it is not good at doing anything else. It is extremely slow (it is one of the slowest along with Basket Lift and Mini Excavator). This is mostly due to the large car body underneath, which also has a yellow extrusion attached under it. This is a large problem as building destruction leaves a lot of debris behind. Driving over the debris can clog the wheels of the Excavator and get it stuck. This can be remedied by removing troublesome rubble from under the vehicle.
Trivia[]
- The WCC lettering present on the side of the boom refers to Wolfe Construction Company.
