Not to be confused with the unarmored Military Van.
The ATV Launcher (sometimes called the Rocket Van) is one of the many drivable Vehicles in Teardown. It first appears at the Evertides Mall, in the Covert Chaos mission.
Design[]
The ATV Launcher is an upgraded version of the Military Van. The only addition to the vehicle is a missile launcher on the roof. It can be fired using LMB and can be aimed using the mouse. It has 32 rockets. No cosmetic changes have been added, and every single other component of the van is the exact same.
Performance[]
The ATV Launcher is, quite possibly, one of the most dangerous vehicles in the entirety of Teardown. It can cause more damage than even the Tank at times, although losing in terms of handling and speed just as it's boring brother.
The missile pod on the van is an insanely destructive weapon. It impressively spews a barrage of 8 rockets in roughly 2 seconds when fired. Each one of these acts similar to a rocket fired from the Players' own Rocket Launcher; causing a large amount of damage dragged down by slow projectile speed and a heavy downward arc at longer ranges. Even just a single missile can rip a hole in any obstacle, but you've got to remember that there's actually 8 of them. In a single use. Not even counting the reserves. Speaking of which, the launcher has 24 rockets as reserve ammo, counting up to 32 rockets in total.
A single burst of rockets from the missile launcher is VERY powerful. It can mangle buildings entirely or tear off sizeable chunks. If that isn't enough though, a few more won't hurt. In these situations, the high spread of the rockets acts as a double-edged sword; On one hand, it causes each rocket to hit in different places, causing more damage. On the other, it can cause some rockets to miss their target completely. The most important factor about all of this, though: the launcher can rotate. Not only do you have an immense amount of power, but it's also mounted on a rotating turret. It does rotate, albeit slowly, but it does.
All the text above stated how deadly the ATV Launcher is, but such a powerful system doesn't come without it's own disadvantages. The precision of the rockets is lacking, for example, and the entire system itself is quite vulnerable. The launcher itself is physically weak and can be destroyed; thankfully it doesn't explode. It simply stops firing. However, these issues are quite minor and are definitely outweighed by the sheer brutality of the system.
Overall, the ATV Launcher is a strong vehicle. It doesn't drive well, it isn't fast and it's not at all durable; but it can cause a spectacular amount of damage.
